NoShu strawberry donut

Today I’m reviewing the NoShu strawberry donut, a gluten free, sugar free donut that’s apparently as healthy as an apple?! Visually, this little doughnut is gorgeous. Overall, it kind of tastes too healthy.
I took a bite of the NoShu strawberry donut straight out of the fridge and it was so so. On the packet they advise you to heat it in the microwave which is kind of weird given it has icing? I did it anyway. It is much better heated up, it is far softer and flavour really comes out. I’d recommend only ten seconds though as icing starts to melt.
Despite having Stevia in the ingredients I didn’t find the taste of it to be too strong (for the record I really dislike Stevia in yoghurt, I can’t eat it).
The texture is very much the desiccated coconut so that does make it kind of gritty – if you’re not a coconut fan it’s going to be tough.
Each donut has less carbs, less sugar and more fibre than a medium apple

Alright overall but if I’m gonna eat junk food maybe it doesn’t need to be healthy, I’m not buying donuts for the fibre content. I don’t think I’d buy one again given the high price (about $4) but I might be convinced if a very enticing flavour appeared – probably something full of peanut butter.
NoShu donuts are stocked at Woolworths and Coles in the fridge section and come in four flavours: strawberry, dark chocolate raspberry, birthday cake and caramel spice. Retail price is $4.
