Nourish’d gluten free meal co review

Posted: May 20, 2025 Updated: May 20, 2025

I so frequently see in gluten free Facebook groups people asking about ready meals delivered and always included in the replies are the meals by Nourish’d .

I’ve had more than one person following me asking if I have tried or reviewed the gluten free meals by Nourish’d so when the opportunity came along to write a post I happily accepted.

This is post sponsored by Nourish’d Meal Co. As you no doubt know, I’m candid in my posts so I’m not going to tell you something is great if it’s not. If you like, you can read more about how Kati Keksi is funded, and how you can support my work.

Nourish’d provides 100% gluten free meals that are delivered fresh, not frozen, they have been around for several (almost 10?!) years. Their range is also endorsed by Coeliac Australia.

The range of options available from Nourish’d gluten free Meal Co

When you open the Nourish’d menu you see photos of each product available to order that week. Each photo is overlaid with the macros data (protein, carbs, fat) and calories.

There’s a filter as well where you can narrow down your choices with options including vegetarian, low carb, no chilli and great for me – no onion.

There’s a good mix of dishes week to week with pastas, rice dishes, hearty casseroles and even a salad option.

Main meals are their primary market but there are a few breakfast options as well like an all day big breakfast and chia pudding.

One thing I like is that the meals have size options, regular, medium and large. The price increases by about $1.50 for each size and there’s a family option on three meals each week which they say covers two adults and two kids under 10.

The ordering process and delivery

The ordering process with Nourish’d was quite straight forward with a weekly cut-off for orders on Wednesday night. I put my order in on a Tuesday, ready for delivery the following week.

The shipping was less than I expected (my order was under $100 so I didn’t qualify for free delivery). The fee was $12 which honestly feels reasonable given it’s a refrigerated courier delivery.

Nourish’d Meal Co delivers right along the east coast, as well as Tasmania and Adelaide. You can enter your postcode at the bottom of their delivery page to see if it’s available in your area.

When you put in your address the system shows you which day and what time frame you can expect your meals. For me I had the option of either overnight, midnight to 8am or during the day, 7am to 6pm on a Tuesday.

My order arrived at something like 2am, and the delivery person barely made a peep, we slept right through it. The meals are packaged with ice packs so they keep cool until you wake up in the morning and find them on your doorstep.

Ice packs, reflective wrap and a box that doesn’t use tape!

The taste

I opted for four meals and one dessert, I ordered:

  • Stroganoff with beetroot and sweet potato mash (dairy free)
  • Popcorn chicken with mash and green peas
  • Korean sesame chicken with broccoli
  • Italian sausage and gnocchi (family size)
  • Sticky date pudding

I’ll cover two meals in this review and follow up with a third over on Facebook later in the week.

Popcorn chicken and mash

When I peeled back the seal, you could smell the spices and the fried crumb of the chicken.

I heated it in the microwave for three minutes, the packet advised two to three. Everything warmed through well with three minutes.

Ready to be plated

The meat is chicken thigh and it’s really tender, not overcooked. The mash is super smooth, it’s quite rich and that’s because it’s got butter and cream in it, a proper hearty meal.

The peas are nice as well and they didn’t overcook in the reheating process.

I don’t like barbecue sauce at the best of times and I forgot that it was included in this meal. It’s smoky, it’s got bold flavours and a bit of a chilli kick. I think my husband would be really impressed with it (he wasn’t home but I’ve saved it for him to try).

The seasoning on the chicken coating is really nice and it’s got a certain richness from the use of ground almond instead of breadcrumbs. It’s got cumin which is one of my favourite spices. The texture of it isn’t particularly crispy, but you can’t really expect that given its reheated in the microwave.

I ended up putting two pieces of the chicken in the oven for 10 minutes just to see if it would crisp up. It worked really well and enhanced the texture, a little upgrade for those who might have the time.

This meal doubled in size once it was on my plate. It was huge!

Sesame Korean Chicken

This looks so much like the meals I ate when I was training as a powerlifter 😅. I love broccoli so it was very typical of me to have a tonne of protein (usually chicken) and an entire head of broccoli in a bowl for dinner.

At first when I looked at the label for the XL meal I was a bit skeptical, 60g of protein, really? But I weighed out the meat and it was over 200g, so you would definitely hit your protein macros with this.

I ate this on a night when I was out super late so I didn’t have a plan to share it. It is huge, I heated the whole meal then filled a bowl for myself and still had some leftover for the next day.

The broccoli has a good texture, there’s still crunch left (super soft broccoli is sad). The sauce on the chicken is really flavourful with ginger and sesame at the forefront. The chicken is sliced breast meat, it’s thin but still tender. I added chilli oil because why not 😁.

I found it really tasty, my only downside would be the sodium level, it’s higher than what I’d want, particularly when you have a larger portion.

The verdict

I opted for the extra large in all the meals I got because I figured I could share it with my daughter who is two years old. Before heating the first one up I was actually a bit worried it wouldn’t be enough food to share, so I actually cooked her some pasta on the side.

But these meals look a lot bigger once you plate them out. Looking at the chicken and mash meal, the amount of potato is more than what I would put on my husband’s plate, and maybe 50% more than what I’d normally eat.

The chicken filled up half my plate and we have quite large plates.

The serving sizes are definitely adequate, and next time I order I’ll get some regular and large sizes so I can see what suits me best.

I’ve been pleased with the Nourish’d gluten free meals I’ve tried and I’d happily order again. It was really useful to have these in the fridge ready to go while my husband was away for work.

I think the main thing I’ll be more aware of is the salt content, as I don’t enjoy meals as much that are higher in salt. Not all are salty, just one of the four I ordered was on the higher side for my taste.

You can see what Nourish’d are offering this week on their website and what’s planned for next week.

  • This brand seems compelling for weekday meals where I have no energy to cook. I don’t deliberately follow a low-salt diet but am not a fan of overly salted food either (except chippies!). Seems like the large meals would be great value if they can be stretched to a second meal.

    • Absolutely, good to have something in the fridge ready to go so you can get some proper food in your belly. I could definitely see the larger meals stretching depending on your appetite. I tend to eat lighter lunches and larger evening meals, but if you were the reverse it could be a nice meal over two nights.
