Woolworths gluten free lollies and chocolates

Sometime in 2023 at the request of one of my followers I put together a rough guide to the gluten free chocolates and lollies available at Woolworths. It was too big of a task for me to make an article about it so I left it at that.

Fast forward to 2024 and I had a huge response when I asked my Facebook followers if we needed a guide to all the gluten free lollies (and chocolates) available at Coles.

While that article was a lot of work (20 or so hours) it’s been quite popular and I’ve even seen many of you recommending and sharing it in Facebook groups!

How to use this guide

I’ve made this guide to cover lollies, and chocolate, that are gluten free and available to be purchased at Woolworths stores.

The brands are listed in alphabetical order for easy navigation. Everything on the list will be gluten free, and I’ll do my best to disclose all allergens. I’ll also try to make note if it contains gelatine as that can rule out options for vegetarians and those avoiding it for religious or cultural reasons.

Glucose syrup

I have to put this in almost every guide, glucose syrup made from wheat, often listed in ingredients as glucose syrup (wheat), is suitable for coeliacs.

Further, according to the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne, glucose syrup from wheat is also suitable for those with wheat allergy.

There’s only three products on this guide that contain wheat glucose syrup (out of 170+) and they are all clearly the labelled. So if you have a wheat allergy and you are unsure you can easily identify and avoid those products.

Allen’s

A quick note, seasonal and larger bags of Freckles are also gluten free by ingredient!

Baci

A lot of people don’t know this but Baci is actually labelled gluten free. And even fewer know that it’s soy free. If you are GF and need a list of gluten free, soy free chocolates send me a message and I’ll give you the list.

Bennetto

Tested gluten free, vegan options and it’s a New Zealand owned company (though now they manufacture in Switzerland). Honestly, I don’t think I’ve noticed these in store before. But, they’re all tested gluten free so they are 100% coeliac safe.

I think I’ll buy myself a block for Valentine’s Day – it’ll be a good back up in case my husband leaves it to the last minute.

Cadbury

Twirls are your main option from Cadbury as well as a select few Caramilk blocks. No Cadbury products are labelled gluten free. However many seasonal products at Christmas and Easter are gluten free by ingredient without the usual may contain statement for wheat and gluten.

Bonus! At certain times of the year you’ll see Cadbury Milk Tray. It’s made overseas and yes it’s gluten freeeeeeeeee. What’s the secret? It’s made in Europe, over in Poland.

• Cadbury Milk Tray, 360g. Allergens: Milk, hazelnut, soy. May contain: Tree nuts.

New by Cadbury for 2025

In January 2025 I discovered a new product from Cadbury that is gluten free. It’s called… balls. Yep. Well, they appear to be the Christmas bauble chocolates we know and love, and now we’ll get them year-round.

• Cadbury Dairy Milk Balls, 135g. Allergens: Milk, soy. May contain: Peanut, tree nuts.

Chocolate Amatller

I’ll preface this listing by saying I asked folks on Facebook if they have this brand at their local store and the positive response rate was about 30%. It seems it’s stocked in larger stores that have a premium chocolate section.

As we know, not all products are in all stores, so if you’re like me you’ll enjoy exploring supermarkets when on holiday to find new products.

For the last year it’s the only way I can buy the Woolworths gluten free lamgintons!

From Spain this chocolate is more of a specialty offering using beans from single countries (not quite single origin).

Chupa Chups

If you are dairy free, I recommend checking out the Chupa Chups website as they list the ingredients of each flavour of their classic lollipop. Some of course contain milk, but not all of them.

• Chupa Chups Best of bag, 300g. Allergen: Milk. May contain: Nil.
• Best of Mini Tube 50 pack, 300g. Allergen: Milk. May contain: Nil.

• Chupa chups, Mentos mix. Allergen: Milk, sulphites. May contain: Milk.

Double D

Double D are a brand that offer a range of regular and sugar free sweets that are also tested to be gluten free. There are some that contain gluten but most in the range are suitable for coeliacs. Big W also stocks a lot of their range, you can see it in my the Big W lolly guide.

These three are all sugar free.

• Barley Sugar drops, 200g. Allergens: Nil. May contain: Nil.
• Honey Eucalyptus Drops, 150g. Allergens: Nil. May contain: Nil.

Funday

If you’re a big fan of Funday gluten free lollies then you need to be shopping at Woolworths for them. They have a larger range than Coles that just stocks the first three here. While they are all dairy free, most are not vegan as they contain gelatine.

• Sour Cola, 50g. Allergens: Nil. May contain: Nil.

Health Lab

Health Lab are are found in the gluten free / health food aisle rather than the lollies aisle at Woolworths.

They also make a number of gluten free treats but their focus has more recently shifted to low sugar products.

Health Lab also make various balls and some dubious wagon wheel dupes. However I’m only including their chocolates on this guide.

Unfortunately all of Health Lab’s products have a very long list of may contains. I’ve listed it below to make the products easier to read.

All Products May Contain: Tree nuts, soy, egg, milk, lupin, peanut, sesame, sulphites.

• Charlotte’s Fix, 160g. Allergen: Soy.
• Mr Big Caramel Peanut bars, 160g. Allergens: Peanut, soy.
• Mylk Chocolate Juicy Cherry bars, 150g. Allergens: Nil.

• Gooey Caramel Filled Diamonds, 30g. Allergens: Nil.
• Low Sugar Mylk Choc Peanut truffles, 150g. Allergen: Peanut.

Kinder

Plain Kinder chocolate is gluten free, which also includes a number of their seasonal ranges at Easter and Christmas. However there are a lot of snack bars and these use wafer made from wheat.

• Kinder chocolate 50g, 200g. Allergens: Milk, soy. May contain: Nil.
• Kinder Surprise, 20g, 60g. Allergens: Milk, soy. May contain: Nil.

Lindt

White Lindt is safe, as it does not contain barley malt! The biscuit pieces in the cheesecake flavour are GF, it’s made using potato starch and chickpea flour.

• Lindor White Chocolate Block, 100g. Allergens: Milk, soy. May contain: Tree nuts.

• Milk No Sugar Added Lindt Chocolate, 100g. Allergens: Milk, soy. May contain: Tree nuts.
• Dark No Sugar Added Lindt Chocolate, 100g. Allergens: Milk, soy. May contain: Tree nuts.
• Les Grande Dark Chocolate Hazelnut, 150g. Allergens: Hazelnut, milk, soy. May contain: Other tree nuts.

Away from the main chocolate blocks some Woolworths stores have a section of fancier gifting chocolates. In this area I’ve seen Lindt, Baci, and a few other imports.

• Lindt extra fine Swiss thins, 125g. Allergens: Soy. May contain: Hazelnut, almond, milk.
• Lindt Gold Swiss dark chocolate, 300g. Allergens: Soy. May contain: Milk, hazelnut, almond, other nuts.

Dark blocks from Lindt are a bit tricky these days as during 2024 a few of them started showing up with may contain gluten. However, those warnings are on blocks from the German and Swiss factories. Lindt also manufactures in France, Italy and occasionally Australia.

The packets below are made in France. I haven’t listed individual details for these as I’m feeling it’s subject to change.

As with any of my guides though, check in person before purchase.

Mentos

I haven’t gone through all the gum options at Woolworths, I’m assuming they are all fine. But I thought since many treat Mentos as a lolly that I’d include them in the guide.

According to the Mentos website all their lollies are gluten free at Woolworths except Mentos choco.

Mentos often release limited edition flavours so it’s best to check those in store as it is sometimes hard to keep up!

• Rainbow, 37g. Allergens: Nil. May contain: Nil.
• Mint, 37g, 112g. Allergens: Nil. May contain: Nil.
• Summer ice cream, 37g. Allergens: Nil. May contain: Nil.
• Spearmint multipack, 112g. Allergens: Nil. May contain: Nil.

Menz

The company Menz actually own a lot of products you’ll see at the supermarket. More than what is labelled. Just for ease I’m including them all under the same group.

• Polly Waffle Bites, 125g. Allergens: Milk, soy. May contain: Peanut, almond.
• Bumbles Milk Choc honeycomb, 525g. Allergens: Milk, soy, sulphites. May contain: Peanut, almond.
• Violet Crumble bag, 150g, 280g. Allergens: Milk, soy. May contain: Peanut, almond.
• Violet Crumble bar, 50g. Allergens: Milk, soy. May contain: Peanut, almond.

Violet Crumble also does a few limited edition flavours, I’ve seen ruby chocolate, dark chocolate and even mint honeycomb! All have been gluten free.

Note, seasonal Violet Crumble products like the Violet Crumble bunny are not gluten free (they have a may contain).

Misc

Sometimes there’s only a few products on the shelf by one company so they’re listed together here under miscellaneous.

• Fizzer Faves, 116g. Allergens: Egg, soy. May contain: Peanut.
• Pez and Pez refills, 17g, 68g. Allergens: Nil. May contain: Nil.
• Push Pop, 15g. Allergens: Nil. May contain: Nil.
• Yowie, 28g. Allergens: Milk, soy. May contain: Peanut, tree nuts. (though it says in the same facility but not shared equipment)
• Chooee, 400g. Allergens: Nil. May contain: Milk. Contains beef gelatine.
• Daim, 28g. Allergens: Milk, soy, almond. May contain: Nil.
• Double Dip orange and cherry, 19g. Allergens: Nil. May contain: Nil.

Misc British lollies

A few late additions to the guide (literally days before publishing) are these British sweets. I would have got them up earlier but it’s difficult sometimes to confirm the allergens.

If you’re wondering where Rowntree’s are, they are further down the list in their own section. You’ll find them all in the international aisle.

Natural Confectionery Company

NOMO

For many years Woolworths and Big W were the only folks selling NOMO products. While there are a few at Coles, the wider range is available at Woolies and Big W. NOMO are of course GF but more uniquely they are dairy free.

At Easter and Christmas Woolworths also stocks the Cookie Dough Bunny and Reindeer chocolates.

Pana

Pana Organic make so many lovely gluten free and vegan products. Even better they are often soy free. They also have a range of ice cream tubs and stick ice creams that are like magnums.

• Rocky road, 45g. Allergens: Almond. May contain: Peanut, other tree nuts.
• Mint Chocolate, 45g. Allergens: Nil. May contain: Peanut, tree nuts.
• Dark Choc Cherry & Coconut snack bar, 40g. Allergens: Nil. May contain: Peanut, sesame, tree nuts.
• Dark Choc Hazelnut snack bar, 40g. Allergens: Hazelnut, peanut. May contain: Sesame, other tree nuts.
• Dark Hazelnut Chocolate, 45g. Allergens: Hazelnut. May contain: Peanut, other tree nuts.

Pascall

Pascall release Lumps in a lot of flavours, usually changing every few months. At the moment there’s also raspberry on the shelves but I’ve seen mint, hokey pokey, even feijoa! Every flavour I’ve seen has been gluten free, but best to double check.

• Eclairs, 300g. Allergens: Milk. May contain: Nil.
• Lumps Pineapple, 180g. Allergens: Milk, soy. May contain: Peanut, tree nuts.
• Marshmallows, 280g, 520g. Allergens: Nil. May contain: Milk.

Pico

The whole Pico range is vegan, most of them are legit dairy free (no may contain). The chocolate is made in Switzerland and it’s gluten free by ingredient.

• Dark Chocolate Salted Caramel, 80g. Allergens: Nil. May contain: Hazelnut, almond.
• Pico Mint Crisp Organic Chocolate, 80g. Allergens: Nil. May contain: Hazelnut, almond.

While making the images for these three below I noticed they are all single origin. So I’m sure they’ll be really good.

Note these two sugar free chocolates have a may contain for milk.

Reese’s

• Peanut Butter Cups, 42g. Allergens: Milk, soy, peanut. May contain: Nil.
• Reese’s unwrapped minis, 120g. Allergens: Milk, soy, peanut. May contain: Nil.
• Reese’s miniature cups, 150g. Allergens: Milk, soy, peanut. May contain: Nil.
• Caramel Big Cup, 30g. Allergens: Milk, soy, peanut. May contain: Nil.

• Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup White Chocolate, 39g. Allergens: Milk, soy, peanut. May contain: Nil.

Rowntree’s

Rowntree’s are a British import at Woolworths so you’ll want to head to the international aisle of your local Woolies to hunt down these gluten free lollies. I’ve seen them at a fair few of my local stores, best use the Woolies app or website to see which shops near you stock them.

I recently bought the strawberry and blackcurrant flavour and my goodness, I could have sworn – it made me that happy. I think it tapped into some kind of lolly nostalgia from my childhood.

Bonus, some are vegan! Going by the labels they weren’t always vegan so this will be a welcome change for a lot of folks.

• Fruit pastilles, 143g. Allergens: Nil. May contain: Nil.
• Strawberry and blackcurrant fruit pastilles, 143g. Allergens: Nil. May contain: Nil.

Skittles

So Soft Marshmallow

Gotta love a marshmallow and So Soft do some of the biggest. You’ll find them in the lolly aisle, however the mini size is usually in the cake decorating section of the supermarket.

Sweet William

Sweet William chocolates are pretty much the ultimate free from brand. They are free from gluten, dairy, egg, nuts!

Good news – I just read on their website that they are working to phase out soy from their recipes. That’s great for those with a soy allergy or intolerance. If you look on their website a number of the recipes are now ‘may contain soy’ rather than contain. I’ll list them as the old recipe for now.

Toblerone

Yesssss coeliacs rejoice, Toblerone is gluten free! It’s nice when you don’t have to miss out on a classic.

• Toblerone, 360g. Allergens: Milk, almond, soy, egg. May contain: Nil.

Tom & Luke

Around Nov / Dec 2024 Tom & Luke (known for their Snacka balls) launched two chocolate blocks that are sweetened with dates instead of sugar. They’re both tested gluten free.

These chocolates are also soy free, though they do have a may contain for soy.

Trolli

There’s a lot more Trolli options at Woolworths than Coles, which is handy since many of their lollies are gluten free. The packets are quite small, if you’re looking for bigger packs I’ve seen them as an Aldi special buy. Kmart also stocks mini bags perfect for Halloween and parties.

• Gummi burger, 50g. Allergens: Nil. May contain: Milk, soy. Contains gelatine.
• Strawberry Clouds, 150g. Allergens: Nil. May contain: Milk, soy. Contains gelatine.

• Twist sweet and sour, 140g. Allergens: Nil. May contain: Milk, soy. Contains gelatine.
• Nite Crawlers, very berry, 150g. Allergens: Nil. May contain: Milk, soy. Contains gelatine.
• Sour Gecko, 140g. Allergens: Nil. May contain: Milk, soy. Contains gelatine.

Woolworths also have gluten free Trolli lollies in mega one kilogram bags.

• Sour Cola, 1kg. Allergens: Nil. May contain: Milk, soy. Contains gelatine.
• Watermelon, 1kg. Allergens: Nil. May contain: Milk, soy. Contains gelatine.
• Brite Crawlers, 1kg. Allergens: Nil. May contain: Milk, soy. Contains gelatine.

Vitawerx

I’m a bit reluctant to add this one, I’m not sure there’s actually any cocoa ingredients in the white chocolate. But look, it’s called choc, it’s in a bar shape and it’s tested gluten free so let’s humour them.

They’ve also got some protein crisps which look a bit like Malteasers. I think they came out around Christmas 2024.

These guys make a whole lot of low sugar chocolates in a variety of flavours. The great thing is they are all legit gluten free!

Woolworths brand gluten free lollies and chocolate

Here’s the group that really makes it unique from Coles. What gluten free lollies are sold under Woolworths’ home label?

Note the musk sticks list wheat/gluten however it is for glucose syrup which is suitable for coeliacs (explained at the start of the article).

• Spearmint leaves, 225g. Allergens: Sulphites. May contain: Milk, soy.
• Marshmallows, 150g. Allergens: Nil. May contain: Nil. Contains pork gelatine.
• Crown mints, 225g. Allergens: Nil. May contain: Milk, peanut, almond.

Woolworths also have a few of their own label chocolate blocks. Amazingly both are soy free, which is incredibly rare in chocolate these days. Both use sunflower lecithin rather than soy lecithin.
