New gluten free Easter eggs for 2024

Posted: February 7, 2024 Updated: April 6, 2024

This is just a supplement to my Easter eggs guide, this article covers new gluten free eggs for 2024. If you want the full list (you obviously do) then head over to the guide now.

I recently asked my lovely Facebook followers if it would be helpful to have an article highlighting the new Easter eggs for 2024. It was a resounding yes, so I’ve been collating what I’ve found so far.

Bookmark this page, I’ll update it with any new gluten free Easter eggs I find!

Coles

These little bags stood out so much even though they were on the bottom shelf near the self checkouts. Definitely new for 2024 and definitely gluten free (by ingredient).

The flavours are a bit more interesting than the average eggs and the slightly fancy little bags are a nice touch.

  • Hazelnut Brittle White Chocolate Eggs, 120g. Allergens: Hazelnut, milk. May contain: Egg, soy, tree nuts.
  • Hazelnut Crunch Milk Chocolate Eggs, 120g. Allergens: Almond, hazelnut, milk. May contain: Egg, soy, tree nuts.
  • Sea Salt & Caramel Almond Nougat Milk Chocolate Eggs, 120g. Allergens: Almond, hazelnut, milk. May contain: Egg, soy, tree nuts.

Another new product for 2024 is Coles brand marshmallow eggs. I’m a bit confused as to why Coles is making these, given Cadbury already has a near identical product? They say they contain wheat but the only wheat listed is glucose syrup which is 100% coeliac safe.

At $4 for 200g (8 eggs) I’m guessing these are also a lot cheaper than their Cadbury counterpart (which is also GF by ingredient).

Another thing to note is these contain gelatine. It’s been specified as beef (Cadbury doesn’t specify on theirs) so that might rule in or rule out options for some readers.

  • Coles Easter Choc Coated Marshmallow, 200g. Allergens: Wheat*, milk, soy, sulphite. May contain: Tree nuts.

Free From Family Co

This a brand owned by online allergy-friendly store Happy Tummies. They have an onsite kitchen free from gluten, dairy, nuts and eggs. This Easter they have made some custom vegan Easter eggs!

Haigh’s

One very new gluten free item from Haigh’s for Easter 2024. It’s a milk chocolate egg flavoured with currants, honey, orange peel and spices. It’s called the hot cross bun crunch, with spiced toffee making the crunchy pieces inside.

There’s also a new spin on a yearly favourite – two new flavours for their hot cross bun truffles. There’s blueberry and apple cinnamon. I’ve only seen them in a special gift box at the eye-watering price of $75. Hopefully you can buy just one on it’s own in store…

There’s a few new gift boxes and soft toys with this year’s release as well. Check it on the full guide.

  • Hot cross bun crunch egg. Allergens: Milk, soy. May contain: Nuts.
  • Assorted chocolate hot cross buns gift box. Allergens: Egg, milk, soy. May contain: Nuts.

Health Lab

Yes, just what you want to hear when you think of chocolate – health. But seriously, Health Lab’s products are gluten free and plant-based. Since 2023 their latest schtick is all about being low sugar.

Their products also have a laundry list of allergens, including milk and egg – so be aware if you are buying these vegan products for allergens rather than a lifestyle choice.

For me personally, it’s a no for this brand after a rather disastrous “wagon wheel” experience. However, I always share product info regardless of my personal tastes so here’s what is new from Health Lab for Easter.

  • Health Lab Low Sugar Mylk Chocolate Mini Hunting Eggs, 100g. Allergens: Nil. May contain: Milk, egg, sesame, lupin, sulphites, tree nuts, peanut, pine nut, soy.
  • Health Lab Low Sugar Mylk Chocolate Half Eggs with Gooey Caramel, 100g. Allergens: Nil. May contain: Milk, egg, sesame, lupin, sulphites, tree nuts, peanut, pine nut, soy.

Kinder

These are a straight up duplicate of the cuuuuuuuutest new Christmas chocolate we got in 2023, the Kinder cookie penguin. Oh my gosh, I got soooo much hype for these when I posted them to Instagram.

The new ones for Easter are adorable yellow chicks and and ladybugs. The ladybugs are filled with that classic milky filling that is so well known with Kinder. The chicks have the milky filling plus cookie pieces. It’s such a satisfying crunch when you bite in, it really is enjoyable, even for me in my late 30s.

  • Milk Kinder mini friends (Ladybug) 89g. Allergens: Milk, soy. May contain: Hazelnut.
  • Biscuit crumbs Kinder mini friends (Chick) 89g. Allergens: Milk, soy. May contain: Hazelnut.

Cadbury

Say whaaaat? New Cadbury, no way!

I was going to just write about the new packaging but actually I think this is a new product!

Box of Cadbury dairy milk buttons Easter eggs.

The ones below are not actually new. But they do have new packaging which more is environmentally friendly. These eggs used to come in plastic cartons that looked a bit like egg cartons.

I’m a visual person, and many GF folks look for very specific packaging for safe products. So, I thought I’d update the photos in the main guide and put them on this article as “new” items.

  • Dairy Milk hunting eggs, 12 pack 204g and 24 pack 408g. Allergens: Milk, soy. May contain: Peanut, tree nuts.
These now look similar to the 9 pack we had last year.

That’s it for now, bookmark this page and check back for updates. Follow me on Facebook and Instagram. I expect we’ll see at least one new item from Haigh’s on top on their usual Easter range.
